Go Green With New Windows
SWDS/010 April 2008
More and more consumers are realising the importance of reducing their footprint on the environment, whether it is through recycling or becoming more energy efficient - knowing that small changes can make a big difference.
A report by a major high street lender* revealed that almost two thirds of homeowners were eager to improve their properties using environmentally friendly features in order to increase their value. Others predict that an eco friendly house will soon be worth six per cent more than a standard home**, which is good news for both homeowners and potential buyers.
Home energy is responsible for 27% of UK’s CO2 emissions. If everyone in the UK who needed new or replacement double glazing fitted it we'd save the equivalent of 800,000 households' CO2 emissions, says Paul Lindsay, General Manager of Swish Windows and Door Systems.
He explains: “The average UK home produces six tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. Our own studies reveal that fitting advanced PVCu performance windows, like a C-rated window, will save a household about three quarters of a tonne of CO2 a year. This is the equivalent of five double decker buses filled with gas.
“Fit a B-rated window or higher and the carbon saving is even greater, positively adding heat to the property.
“Swish is committed to providing its customers with the most efficient products we can whilst being competitive in price, to reduce the industry’s impact on the environment and support our customers in doing their bit as well.”
